New Hardware, Yay!

ASUS X99-A
Core i7 5820k
32GB DDR4 2666Mhz G Skill Ripjaws4
SSD Samsung 850 Pro 256gb
Antec Dark Fleet DF-30
D-Link Gigabit Switch DGS-1005A
and of course DEAD PSU Chieftec GPM-650C, lol
screw it, my old Hiper Type M 780W still rock
also i have ancient Powerman Pro HPC-420-102DF that still can power my old overclocked i7 3770k@4400MHz, unbelievable as it have only 4 pin cpu power cord vs original 8 pins

Finally got it working, actually at feb 3rd, but only today it is ready to work, after major restructurisation of storage spaces.
Have overclocked Core i7 5820k to 4200Mhz stable(vcore 1.168v &
cache@3800mhz 1.178v), got max 60c during rendering time.

Both machines have Win 8.1 Pro installed from new MDSN's november 2014 iso.

    Wow. I hope you have gotten my mails about Lori in the meantime. I was wondering if everything is ok. Glad to hear that you are ready to rock.

    Very nice. On a totally unrelated note, where do you live and when will you be away from home? *grin*

    Strange, I was pricing out a system and had: same MB, same processor, same RAM....different case, power supply, and hard drives. What did you use for the graphics card? I am looking at an nVidia, but not sure which one to get. Needs to be something Octane will like :D

  • Hitman_X3Z

    thanks! :D

    @Nephanor
    Well, I love motherboards from ASUS, before that I had A8N-E, P5K Deluxe, Z77-V Pro, so probably I'm an ASUS fanboy :D
    And last two was running on Hiper Type M 780W PSU, and it is still in business, kinda another good product!

    As for graphics card, atm i have GTX 760 4096mb, it is good for viewports and gaming, but i'm not aiming at GPU rendering before redshift3d will not come to C4D, then... will see! Probably for Octane you'll be good with one of the latests cards from NVIDIA Titan series, they especially good for GPU rendering.

    @Hitman
    Yeah, the last PC I built was an ASUS as well, very solid, been a while since I made one. The system I was pricing out I had picked a $400 range card, a GTX 970, looking at the titans...those cost half the cost of the whole machine I priced out. If I could get enough people putting money to my Patreon for making art and Ambient Dimension, I could afford it. Oh well! :D Look forwards to see what you create with this beast of a machine!

    @Anonymous: Love to, I'd do more rendering if more people donated! :P

    Since you don't mention anything I would guess stock cooler which makes a render temp at 60 really impressive.

    Got a i7 2700k myself and it is a true beast so I am sure you will have a blast with the 5820!

    @Nephanor
    before buying GTX 970, you better take a look at it:
    http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/middle-earth-shadow-of-mordor-geforce-gtx-970-vram-stress-test.html
    in short: it is 3.5gb of vram card with another 512mb of low speed vram, basically if you hit vram usage over initial 3.5gb you'll get massive performance drop.

    @Anonymous
    Currently it's running with zalman cnps11x performa :)

    @Hitman_X3Z хорошая обновка. У меня у самого 4930К + две 780Ti + 16 Гб DDR3 2400 Мгц. Кстати не играешь в батлу? Раньше вроде бы в BC2 играл? Если надумаешь, покатаю на вертолете или патронов покидаю )), мой профиль: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/ru/user/IPhaeton/

    @Алексей Подкорытов
    Неплохая конфа, однако!))

    Конечно играю, добавляйся))

    BC2 был супер, сейчас того драйва уже нету, а жаль...
